Family Life Survey: Deadline Dec.13

Introduction

Synod page imagePope Francis recently announced that an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops would be held in October 2014 on the theme of “Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.”

As part of the preparation for this extraordinary synod, Catholics throughout the world have been invited to respond to a series of questions related to this topic.

Our Bishop is inviting input on the questionnaire. Included below is some background information, the Synod’s preparatory document, and related documents that may assist you.

Responses are being sought from priests, those involved in ministry to couples and families, and any others who may be motivated to respond.

The timeframe for responding is short: responses for the diocese must be collated and forwarded to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) by December 31. The CCCB will collect all of the responses from all the dioceses in Canada and send them to the Vatican by the end of January.

How to Respond

We recommend you read the synod’s Preparatory Document, which contains the full list of questions. Given the short time frame for response, we recommend you focus your attention on those questions that are particularly relevant to you, your field of ministry, or your organization.

Please send responses by email or mail by December 13, 2013.

Keep your response to two typed pages (500 words) or less; we anticipate a large volume of correspondence and have very little time to read and collate it for submission to the CCCB.
