Humility, and the choice of guests at a banquet, are the main topics of our readings for this 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Last Sunday, we celebrated the beautiful feast of Corpus Christi.
Corpus Christi, or the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, is that feast where we refresh our faith in the real presence of our Lord in the bread and wine consecrated in the Eucharist.
On this last Sunday of the Easter season, we observe and celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost.
Ascension Sunday is that Sunday when we remember that the Lord’s Ascension is our own exaltation. The Ascension is yet another proof of God’s infinite mercy for us.
The first reading, from the Acts of the Apostles, is a good introduction to the virtue of temperance or moderation.
